Footnotes:
1. As optioned means the part will be delivered with the options of the source vehicle. If the vehicle on which the part is to be installed has different options, these changes are the responsibility of the party having the work done.
2. On many part types the proper options installed on a particular vehicle may not be easy to determine. Manufactures routinely install parts which have significant variations without making a record of the change. In the case of mouldings variations with in single production run is not uncommon. Auto Recyclers may be able to closely match what is needed. In order for a Recycler to supply this service a detailed description of what is required must be supplied. The Recycler can only guarantee that the major assemblies will fit and work without this additional information.
3. Automatic selection of many optional parts is not possible with the limited information currently supplied by the automated systems. Work is underway to increase the flexibility of the systems now in use. Until there are improvements, those that are having the work done must be responsible for making additional information available to the Automobile Recycler.
4. Some parts, although they are attached to the part in question are sold as separate items. There are several conditions which cause this to be true. Some parts have too high of a demand as a separate item, which if included would raise the cost of the primary part above that established in the market. Other parts, if sold with the primary part will adversely affect the value of yet another item. Finally, some parts have so many options involved in their manufacture that including them on the primary part reduces that part's utility.

Standard Inventory Management System Descriptions
WINDSHIELD GLASS COLOR, TINT, and SHADE DESCRIPTIONS
The ARA standard for identification of all glass items, including windshields is based on the manufacture's own numbering system written on the glass. In the corner of any automotive glass are both the manufacture's mark and the "M Code". This code uniquely describes the color, coating, and tinting of the glass. Use both the maker's mark and the "M Code" in the inventory description. To match a glass, compare the code in the inventory to the code on the customer's vehicle. Always refer to the M Codes written on a like glass from the same vehicle.
ANTENNA CODES
| WA With Antenna |
WH With Heat |
| NA No Antenna |
NH No Heat |
Example: WA,NH in a description field of a windshield would denote that it has an antenna and is not heated
TRANSMISSIONS
Each transmission inventories will have two codes, each two letters long. It will separate transmission by how they are cooled and if they are automatic or manual shift.
| MT Manual Transmission |
EC Engine Transmission Oil Cooler |
| AT Automatic Transmission |
NC No Engine Cooler |
Example: AT,NC in a description field of a transmission would denote an automatic transmission that does not have an engine oil cooler
AXLE ASSEMBLY |
Each axle assembly is given two codes. The first code is the axle ratio of the axle assembly and the last code denotes if the axle is a locking (limited slip) or non-locking type.
Type Code:
N-Non-Locking Axle Assembly L-Locking Axle Assembly
Example: "3.08,N" in a description of an axle assembly will denote a non-locking axle
with a 3.08 ratio
Doors are given a field consisting of four codes in twelve spaces. The first code denotes the window lift type.
The second code deals with the glass colors. The next denotes the lock type and the final code describes the type of mirror, if included.
Lift Codes:
P Power Window Lift
M Manual Window Lift
Glass Color Codes: Refer to M Codes written on the glass
Lock Type Codes: PL Power Locks, ML Manual Locks
Mirror Type Codes: Space 9, Space 10, Space 11, Space 12, S Sail Type, P Painted, P Power, H Heated , R Rally Type, B Black, M Manual, N No Heat, P Plain, C Chrome, R Remote,
NOM No Mirror on Door
Example: P,PL,SPMN on a door would denote a power lift window, power locks and a
manual painted non-heated sail mirror
Bumpers are given two codes. The first denotes the type of bumper and the last gives the pad and guard combinations. Note that painted types include plastic bumpers
Type Codes:
C = Chrome
P = Painted
Pad and Guard Codes:
PD = Pad
GD = Guards
PG = Pads and Guards
PL = Plain
EC = With End Caps
Example: C,PG in a bumper description would denote a chrome bumper with pads and guards
Lift gates are defined as a rear gate that opens upward, hinged at the top, as compared to a tail gate which opens downward and has hinges at the bottom or side. These are given three codes, the first of which denotes the glass color. The second code describes whether or not there is a wiper and the final code denotes if the gate has heated glass.
